The Mission & Values of William Black Lodge
To honor God, the mission of the William Black Lodge is to provide a place for God's people to come for renewal, worship, and fellowship in a comfortable environment that is surrounded by God’s beautiful creation. (Adopted by WBL Board of Directors 2014)
William Black Lodge also has a historic mission of providing a place of retreat and renewal for persons serving professional and avocational ministries.
William Black Lodge was founded by, has primarily been utilized and funded by, and primarily has served congregations and individuals affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The Lodge’s historic relationship and current board responsibility is to the PCUSA Synod of Mid-Atlantic.
As William Black Lodge shares Montreat and works closely with Montreat Conference Center we also affirm the following Montreat Conference Center Mission and Values Statement (Affirmed by WBL Board of Directors October 22, 2022):

We gather people to experience God's transforming power and inspire love for the world.
· Cultivate an abiding faith in Jesus Christ through personal and congregational spiritual renewal and growth;
· Nurture and preserve relationships;
· Demonstrate intentional hospitality;
· Care for the natural treasure that is Montreat;
· Foster a safe place; and
· Honor continuing ties to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) - learn more about the Presbyterian Church (PCUSA)
