MontreatMontreat has more than 20 hiking trails, providing everything from moderate to strenuous excursions. A map of area trails is available at our front desk. The Nature Center, located near Lake Susan, offers guided hikes. The Nature Center is operated by the Montreat Retreat Association and is generally open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday-Friday during the summer.

Black MountainYou'll find Black Mountain just outside the Montreat gates, and it's worth planning time to visit. Black Mountain is nationally recognized for arts, crafts, furniture, and music. It is currently home to over 200 businesses, including restaurants, bed and breakfasts, specialty shops, four breweries, and a recently announced large manufacturing operation.
