Day 1 – Arrive + Explore

Arrival + Check-in

  • Easy (contact-free) check-in
  • Room stocked with breakfast bars, cooler, and coffee (as needed)
  • All rooms sanitized and left vacant for 24+ hours
  • Get a list of local restaurants and attractions available during Covid
  • Roku-enabled TV available ​

Afternoon + Evening

  • Take a walk around Montreat + Lake Susan
  • Check out the Montreat Store and Ten Thousand Villages
  • Take a stroll down Greybeard Road along Flat Creek
  • Check out the Walk Jones Wildlife Sanctuary
  • Relax with a glass of wine and good conversation on the front porch of the Lodge

Dinner + Following

  • Dine at one of the local restaurants for dinner
  • Head back to the Lodge for a quiet evening under the Edison lights on the back patio with a glass of wine and good conversation
  • Take a short evening  stroll down the steps of nearby Assembly Inn, to stand by the lake and look up at the stars

Day 2 – Leaf Looking

Morning Adventure

  • Enjoy your coffee and breakfast on the front porch of the Lodge overlooking the wildflower garden
  • Hike Eagle Rock near Bat Cave, NC.
  • Eat lunch at one of Chimney Rock’s restaurants, Burntshirt or Medina’s 

Chimney Rock

  • Take the afternoon to go wine tasting in Chimney Rock at Burntshirt and check out the view from the front porch
  • If you’re in the mood for another wine tasting, give Point Lookout Vineyards a try
  • ​Head back to Montreat and William Black Lodge for a late afternoon siesta.    

Dinner and a Stroll

  • Give one of Black Mountain’s pizza places a try for dinner tonight. The Lodge staff recommends a funky outdoor place called the Pizza Machine. It is set-up in an old school bus 
  • Enjoy a living room space set aside for you all for a night cap and conversation
